Sci-fi space station and galactic life simulator Spacebase DF-9 will be exiting Early Access in favor of a full launch next month, studio Double Fine announced Wednesday.
Double Fine’s development plan will now focus on adding tutorials and in-game goals in preparation for final release. The game’s ambitious scope has narrowed somewhat as a result of Wednesday’s announcement. The original development plan detailed several in-depth features to be added over a period of several months via Steam’s Early Access program.
Spacebase DF-9‘s source code will accompany the final release, which will likely spur community additions to the game. The game was initially pitched during an internal game jam at Double Fine in December 2012 before entering the Early Access program in late 2013.
