Developer 4J Studios announced that the PlayStation Vita port of Mojang AB’s Minecraft will launch in Europe on the Sony handheld on 15 October. No North American release dat has been confirmed.
The Vita edition is a Cross-Buy release, so any PSN members who previously bought the PlayStation 3 port of Minecraft will receive access to the Vita version for free. Those who purchased the PlayStation 4 version that release last month will be required to purchase the Vita edition as a stand-alone game.
4J Studios plans to update all the console ports of Minecraft to version 1.6.4, although they expect it “may take some time” to expect full feature parity between PC and console editions of the game.
Update: The PlayStation blog has announced that the PlayStation Vita port of Minecraft will release in North America on 14 October, a day before the European launch.
