Sony has been very silent this year about long-in-development action-adventure title The Last Guardian. Without a single mention in Sony’s events at any trade show this year, it would be easy to assume that the project has been quietly cancelled.
However, in an interview in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu (translated by Kotaku), PlayStation Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that “we continue to work diligently on the game, so please look forward to it.”
Sony announced The Last Guardian in 2009 as a title for the PlayStation 3. The game’s development was delayed repeatedly, and rocked by the departure of designer and director Fumito Ueda from Sony. In August 2014, Sony revealed that the game was still in development and was making “great progress.”
There is still no word from Sony or Team Ico about an updated release date or platforms, however.
