Blizzard Entertainment announced the sixth expansion to their decade-old World of Warcraft MMORPG today at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Entitled World of Warcraft: Legion, the expansion continues the demonic invasion narrative first hinted at during the Mists of Pandaria storyline and begun in earnest during the current expansion, Warlords of Draenor.
Legion will raise the experience cap by ten levels to 110, as well as add a new Hero Class: the Demon Hunter. Blizzard detailed a number of new features in the coming expansion during their 90 minute conference at Gamescom, e.g. an overhauled PvP reward and ability system, new customizable artifact-class weapons, and a storyline that reads like a fan-service brochure. The World of Warcraft: Legion preview site is already online with details.
No release date was announced for Legion, but a beta is said to be coming later in 2015. World of Warcraft: Legion will likely release sometime in 2016 on Windows PC and Mac OS X.
